A practical, safety-focused course that teaches how to plan and carry out lifts with excavators. Topics include risk assessment and SWMS, reading excavator load charts, selecting and inspecting lifting gear, correct rigging, communication/signalling, limitations of excavators as lifting machines, and a hands-on, assessed lift.
Excavator operators, riggers/dogmen, site supervisors and anyone who plans or supervises excavator lifts. Attendees should have basic experience operating excavators - ideal for crews moving into lifting tasks or supervisors needing a clear understanding of lifting risks.
Plan and supervise safe excavator lifts, interpret the machine’s load chart for real configurations, select and inspect rated lifting gear, rig loads to control centre-of-gravity and swing, communicate effectively between operator and signaller, and perform safe test lifts and assessed practical lifts on site.
Delivered as a mix of theory and hands-on practical training on-site that is convenient to your operations. Assessment includes observed practical lifts and knowledge checks. Successful participants receive an RTO-accredited Statements of Attainment.
