Prerequisites & Course Requirements

Persons must be 18 years of age or older
Photo ID must be presented i.e. current drivers licence, passport or proof of age card.
Basic numeracy skills.
Basic English language and literacy
USI Number
Appropriate clothing (Hi Vis shirt, long pants, with steel cap boots)

How Is the Course Delivered?

The RIIHAN307E course is delivered through face-to-face training, on site at your preferred suitable location, ensuring participants gain hands-on experience in a controlled environment.

The course is designed to be completed in up to one (1) day, providing a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

Throughout the training, students will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including:

Pre-operational checks and crane set-up
Identifying and controlling workplace hazards
Lifting, moving, and placing loads safely
Load charts, weight assessment, and safe working loads (SWL)
Communication methods (hand signals, radios, spotters)
Shutdown and securing procedures
Compliance with workplace health and safety regulations

Course Structure and Assessment

Written/online knowledge assessment

Licensing and Certification

Upon successful completion of RIIHAN307E – Operate a Vehicle Loading Crane, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

This unit is nationally recognised and can contribute to other qualifications in the civil construction, resources, and infrastructure training packages.

Note: For cranes with a lifting capacity over 10 metre tonnes, a separate High Risk Work Licence (CV Class) is required.

Please note:

High Risk Training Academy (HRTA), deliver and assess this course under a third-party agreement with AOTA RTO #91463.

Certificates are issued by AOTA Training after all documentation has been submitted and course fees paid.

AOTA issue your certificate upon successful completion of your course, typically within 7-10 business days.
